Multi-instrumentalist composer Russ Harris began with his formative years being shaped by the era of John Williams led Spielberg/Lucas fantasy epics whilst tapping away at a ZX Spectrum to the sound of Kraftwerk. A diet of John Hughes
movies and John Carpenters chilling dystopias was then to follow which pushed an early curiosity into how music was used to enhance the emotional charge of such movies. Following this, an early rock phase started his beginnings as a technical musician, touring with several bands playing bass and lead guitar before moving through a couple of new wave electro bands before his current dance project Go Yoko! An ongoing desire to explore sound design led to a craving to dig deeper into the roots of music composition and the artistic marriage of music with film and video games. After obtaining his mixing and recording credentials studying sound engineering at City Of Westminster he went on to build a professional recording studio and began amassing a large collection of synthesizers and otherworldly instruments, then started honing his post production skills and studying scoring tecniques through Music for The Media. The passion for enhancing the emotional response to a production are evident throughout the heart of his work, whether it’s divine orchestral cinescapes of other worlds or the pounding majesty of the battlefield he maintains an immersive integrity to every production. Current works are trailer music for an upcoming Ubisoft game promotion campaign, a special live music performance of original material for a Blade Runner themed event followed by a subsequent album release of selected works. Here is a selection of recent music. |
